The Grotte de la Salamandre is one of the most beautiful caves in Europe. It opened to the public in 2013 for the first time. It offers four different choices for visiting the cave: The Belvédère, the guided tour, and the Grand Rappel and Behind the Scenes at the Salamandre. Open March, April and October 7/7. Open May June and September from 10:30am to 6pm. In July and August open from 10am to 6:30pm. Closed annually 1 November to 28 February.
The Belvedere and the fantastic view are wheelchair-accessible - unique in all of Europe.
The guided tour is a fascinating itinerary which takes about one hour, in the heart of the vast space with magnificent concretions, with light and sound effect.
For thrill-seekers, the Grand Rappel is for you. 50m descent to reach the immense cave through the ceiling. Great for friends and family. Super fun to share the high emotions!

And now, since 2015 Behind the Scenes at La Salamandre: two and a half hours of spelunking with fun adventures on the way. A sporty experience that can be challenging.

Outside the natural site is spectacular. To preserve it, vehicles remain 700m down the road. Persons with reduced mobility can park on site. You follow a shady path to reach the visitors' centre, all in wood and nestled against the cliff, designed by architect Jean-François Daures. Photovoltaic panels provide electricity, making the Grotte de la Salamandre the first in all of Europe to be "lit by the sun". There is also a nice shop with lots of original things including beautiful minerals from nearby mines. There's a snack bar and a beautiful deck overlooking the magnificent scrubland.
