OpenFrom 02 January 2014 to 01 January 2015
The Val de Benediction Carthusian Monastery was founded in the 14th century by Pope Innocent VI who entrusted the decoration of his private chapel to Matteo Giovanetti, the artist who painted the frescoes in the Popes' Palace. The 3 cloisters, the 40 monk cells and the splendid gardens made the Val de Benediction the biggest Carthusian Monastery in France. Today, you can visit the chapel, the church with Pope Innocent VI's tomb, the cloisters and the Carthusian monk cells.
