    A resource centre founded in 1979 by the Jean Vilar Association, in partnership with Avignon and the Performing Arts Department at the Bibliothèque nationale de France. See timetables at the bottom of the page.
    The Maison Jean Vilar pursues its mission of artistic education and transmission and proposes to all groups, whether school groups or not, to benefit from educational workshops and guided tours.
    The permanent installation Présences de Jean Vilar displays costumes, manuscripts and documents, posters, photos, videos that review the adventure of Jean Vilar at the head of the Festival d’Avignon (1947-1971) and the Théâtre National Populaire (1951-1963).
    Temporary exhibitions in connection with the theatre, the Avignon festival, and contemporary art are scheduled throughout the year.
    The library, an extension of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France for the Performing Arts, has a rich document collection and often puts on themed displays.

    TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS:
    - Tuesday 15 May to Friday 21 Dec. 2018: Cabu, le théâtre à main levée - Sketches by a theater-lover.
    Drawings by the famous illustrator Cabu, a great fan of theatre and loyal attendee of the Festival d'Avignon.

    - Friday 6 July to Saturday 13 April 2019: Je suis vous tous qui m'écoutez - Jeanne Moreau, a life of theatre.
    Laure Adler curates this exhibition and invites the public to traverse Jeanne Moreau's outstanding theatrical career. Jeanne Moreau was a mainstay of the history of the Avignon, from 1947 to 2011.

    Open Tuesday to Saturday 11 to 6pm except holidays. Open every day 11am to 8pm during the Festival d'Avignon in July. Closed in August and at the year-end holidays.
