A beautiful building just
behind the Palace of the Popes, la Mirande is an elegant, tasteful hotel and
restaurant, filled with the ambiance of the 18th century and the gentle
lifestyle of the elegant homes of the past. The restaurant proposes delicious, elegant
cuisine in the cozy ambiance of the various salons. The original wood-fire 19th
century kitchens still exist on the underground floor, where the huge stove is
still used for cooking classes and communal table meals. An excellent way to explore
Provence and its gastronomic secrets. The main dining room is a former
Cardinal’s hall which was part of the former Cardinal palace tower. Hung with a
17th-century tapestry from Brussels which depicts a meal. Double
caisson Renaissance ceiling, 19th century petit-point rug. La Mirande provides
several different salons for many different uses and combinations. In winter,
the fireplace warms the atmosphere and in summer, activity shits to the garden
or the terrace, at the base of the majestic Palace of the Popes. Tea salon,
bar. Formule snack: service on the terrace. Cooking school and table d'hôtes on
Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Specialties: vegetarian Lasagnes with heirloom
tomatoes, Parmentier of beef cheek with Saint John’s truffle, iced velouté of
peach, panna cotta with basil.
